Best Games For Mac Os X 10.6.8

Sure, the (hopefully) last version of Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard was released yesterday. Yes, it addressed a laundry list of improvements to both networking and Mac OS X Lion readiness. But did you know that installing Mac OS X 10.6.8 might also improve graphic performance on your Mac?

Bill Fox over at ran benchmarks on both a Mac Pro and a MacBook Pro. What he found was that the "newer graphics drivers in 10.6.8 not only eliminated any decline in speed from 10.6.5 through 10.6.7 but showed significantly improved OpenGL performance in Xbench and the game Halo for the ATI Radeon HD 5870 card" in the Mac Pro. His benchmarks also showed improved performance, although not as dramatic, with the Nvidia GeForce 320M graphics processor in the MacBook Pro.

We'd love to hear from any iMac, MacBook, MacBook Air or Mac mini owners who are able to run the same benchmarks on their favorite computers before and after 10.6.8. Developer notes accompanying the third developer build of Mac OS X 10.6.8 note that the beta includes fixes that "enhance the Mac App Store to get your Mac ready to upgrade to Mac OS X Lion," fscklog (via Google Translate) reported over the weekend. Apple seeded the latest build of OS X 10.6.8 on Friday with no known issues.

Mac OS X 10.6.8 will also contain fixes for the MAC Defender malware scam, according to people familiar with the matter. The malicious software was first discovered by a security researcher in early May. Last week, Apple posted a support document with instructions on how to remove the malware, promising that an upcoming update to Mac OS X would find and remove the offending software.

Before we begin, you may have to make changes in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General to allow your MacBook to install, open, and play Steam games. Set Allow apps downloaded from to Anywhere under there and you are ready to begin.

This retro-themed adventure MacBook game in Steam puts you in the middle of a cave and your objective is to escape. There are multiple levels that are all connected with each other and the puzzles are innovative and use a little bit of magic to solve. The pixel-art graphics are a good choice and you collect points to receive hints. Escape La La would take you back to the age of classic console games of the 80s and 90s.

These were some of my favorite free steam games for Mac that you can play without stressing out your wallet. The majority of games offered are made by small indie developers so you know that even if the games are short, the experience would be memorable. My personal favorites are Mega Hasan, BirdGut, Lines X, and The Orville. What about you? Which are your favorites? Let me know on Twitter.

No longer do you have to wait in line for the newest version of iLife. No more searching Amazon or eBay for the best price on Aperture. And no more Angry Birds on your mobile device's small touchscreen!

So, life may have just gotten easier for Mac owners, but that could also cause some problems for some addictive personalities. Never before have so many programs, ranging from games to finance to productivity, been so readily available, all at the click of a mouse button. Just like the Apple's App Store for iOS devices, the Mac App Store has free programs, but the cost for paid ones can be as high as $100.

The new Mac App Store is just like the iOS App Store for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. So, if you've shopped for mobile apps before, it should be a breeze for you to find and download Mac applications. You can browse Mac apps by category, such as games, productivity, music, and more. Or do a quick search for something specific. Read developer descriptions and user reviews. Flip through screenshots. When you find an app you like, click to buy it.

It's also bit touchy when software tries to address memory that's out of bounds.. which they shouldn't be doing anyway, but there's quite a bit of poorly written classic Mac software out there. Especially games. There's a preference you can uncheck to make it tolerate those sorts of bugs, but it makes SheepShaver noticeably unstable.

Snood Redood introduces a tasty new generation of Snood games. That means all-new Snoodity, with redesigned characters and levels! This version includes three gameplay modes for play in short bursts or for hours at at a time. Get your Snood on in Story Mode, Classic Mode, and an all new Time Attack Mode! New magic Snoods, including Joker and Da Bomb, make puzzles and harder difficulty levels even more challenging. 350c69d7ab
